Apartment Adoption
Apartment adoption is the essential and primary channel that drives our mission. Through our unique model, we maintain a portfolio of clean, safe, and affordable apartments in close proximity to Birmingham’s medical centers. This strategic placement allows families to settle and unwind while enduring their loved ones’ arduous medical regimens.
The families we serve – facing challenges such as cancer treatment, organ transplants, premature birth, and trauma – stay with Red Mountain Grace for an average of 48 nights. To support them effectively, we seek Apartment Adopters who contribute to significant cost savings and foster a caring space.
Apartment adoption goes beyond financial support – it is a unique opportunity to connect with the guests you are serving. As an Apartment Adopter, you can choose your level of involvement in your apartment’s care team, which includes volunteers and church partners. This could involve preparing the unit, sending a heartfelt message or card, or establishing a connection to the families housed in that specific apartment. It’s an opportunity for your family, group, or organization to make a direct impact on the well-being of RMG families.
Apartment Adoption Impact
Adopting an apartment not only provides a supportive environment but also alleviates the financial burden on families, offering an affordable alternative to costly hotel stays. Since opening our doors in 2013, Red Mountain Grace has welcomed over 1,000 families. Your support as an Apartment Adopter ensures we can continue making a meaningful impact in their lives by providing a cost-effective home away from home.
In 2023 alone, we housed 171 patients, caregivers, and families, yet this only meets a portion of Birmingham’s need. Your partnership allows us to expand our capacity to meet the growing demand. Currently, we maintain around 20 apartments and manage a nightly waitlist averaging 30 families.
How to Get Started
Red Mountain grace asks Apartment Adopters to open doors by committing to contribute $15,000 each year ($1,250/month) for a three-year period. Fill out the form, select the $1,250 button, and click “Adopt an Apartment”. You can also split the cost among family, friends, or coworkers—just pick a group name and follow the instructions on the form to coordinate your monthly donation.
What to Expect
Upon adoption, you’ll be assigned to a specific apartment that becomes your own. You’ll also receive quarterly email updates on happenings, guest needs, and opportunities to serve.
