Our Mission​

Red Mountain Grace is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing clean, safe, and affordable housing to out-of-town patients and caregivers during their extended medical stays in Birmingham.

Red Mountain Grace believes everyone should experience grace during life’s most challenging moments. Medical emergencies are often overwhelming for families, and the added stresses, complications, and expenses of extended travel for patient care create an additional burden.

That’s where Red Mountain Grace comes in. Through our unique apartment model, we maintain a portfolio of fully-furnished apartments in close proximity to Birmingham’s medical centers. This strategic placement allows families to settle and unwind while enduring their loved ones’ arduous medical regimens.

Since opening our doors in 2013, Red Mountain Grace has welcomed over 1,000 families. The families we serve – facing challenges such as cancer treatment, organ transplants, premature birth, and trauma – stay with us for an average of 48 nights. Red Mountain Grace guests can stay in one of our fully-furnished apartment for just $20 a night. Our apartments are patient-friendly and stocked with fresh linens, cleaning products, and kitchen essentials.

Our guests are connected to a care team of apartment adopters, volunteers, and church partners, who offer support in various ways. This involvement may include preparing the unit, sending a heartfelt message or card, or establishing a connection to the families housed in that specific apartment. We have four different areas for volunteer opportunities with Red Mountain Grace: cleaning, celebrating, serving, and catering.
